Effects of Sexual Promiscuity

“The world has an exalted view of individuals who go around sleeping with many people. But what is highly esteemed in the eyes of man is an abomination in the sight of God (Luke 16:15). Satan wants to twist our desires so that things which were intended to bless us and others, become an instrument to destroy us and those around us. –Deacon Cliff, Christian Apologetic

4 Effects of Sexual Promiscuity

  1. You will lose the ability to fully bond with your spouse later on in marriage. Sex is created to join one individual to another spirit, soul, and body. It is pouring your life into someone else.  The person who has no regard for the blessedness and power of sex, wants a little bit of many people, but gets none of any. They are not really bonding with any of them.
  2. You will lose value for those things which are truly valuable in life. Sin changes our values over time-it doesn’t happen overnight. People have the ability to eventually do things that they would once never dream of doing. The ability to treat people like objects, and an inability to want to love, or actually love someone else.
  3. You will end up treating people lightly. People who treat sex lightly end up treating people lightly. In addition to losing our ability to bond and losing value for the valuable, we lose our ability to care about people. This is due to selfishness created by a gradual change in values due to sexual sin. As a result little regard is given to a spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend, and even the children who are a product of that relationship.
  4. You will become more and more an instrument of destruction. Satan wants to twist our desires so that things which were intended to bless us and others, such as the sexual bond between one man and one woman in marriage, become an instrument to destroy us and those around us.

We may have damaged ourselves through sexual sin, but God wants to forgive and restore us. If you profess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved Romans 10:9. Ask for the Holy Spirit to lead you into the truth and reality of God’s willingness and desire to forgive you, to cleanse from all unrighteousness, and open up your eyes to His love, His goodness, His ways and to His wisdom, especially in the area of sexuality.

For moments when …

For moments when temptation seems impossible to resist:

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it                                                                                                     1 Corinthians 10:13

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.                               James 1:13-15

The devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him and stand firm in the faith.                                                       1 Peter 5:8

For moments when my finances trouble me:

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say,“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”                                                                                                         Hebrews 13:5

Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.       Ecclesiastes 5:10

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.                                                                         Matthew 6:24

For moments when I wonder if my heart is in the right place

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”                                                                                                     Luke 10:25-28

For moments when I worry that I will not hear from God

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God  may be thoroughly equipped for every good work                                  2 Timothy 3:16-17

For moments when I need assurance of salvation

For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16

The Lord knows who are His                                                                                            2 Timothy 2:19

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has eternal life                                                                                                 John 5:24

My salvation will last forever                                                                               Isaiah 51:6

Ezekiel 7:19

ImageThey will throw their silver into the streets,
And their gold will be like refuse;
Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them
In the day of the wrath of the Lord;
They will not satisfy their souls,
Nor fill their stomachs,
Because it became their stumbling block of iniquity.

Proverbs 6:6-11

PicMonkey Collage.jpgGo to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,
Which, having no captain,
Overseer or ruler,
Provides her supplies in the summer,
And gathers her food in the harvest.
How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep—
11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.
